Art, if I wanted to cite the asylum rules to you I’d just cut and paste them from the UN Charter.
The question is if the UK (and the rest) are fully signed up signatories to the aforementioned UN Charter covering asylum why are we ‘forcing’ refugees into boats so they can illegally force an application on us?
I know why, do you?

I don't know why, can you give me your opinion please?

It's worth noting (I did a one minute google) that the UK in 2022 had these figures a mildly interesting read for anyone I would suggest - https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-december-2022/how-many-people-do-we-grant-protection-to

Whereas those in the EU had this - https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/infographics/asylum-applications-eu/

Yes. It’s because of your botched Brexit, where taking back control meant eff all. Just soundbites for the racists and gaslit.

Thanks AU, very interesting. I would direct Tavy to Section 3 - Outcomes of Asylum Applications which show that rates of successful claims vary over the years depending on circumstances and where the applicants are from. It may suprise him that some thought goes into the matter, rather than "most" applications being granted because we're signed up to the UN Charter. As Yvette Cooper and I keep saying, if the asylum system were resourced properly, rather than half a billion quid being spaffed on a Save Big Dog gimmick, we might one day get on top of the situation

You think our illegal immigration problem is linked to EU membership? 🤣

Not sure what point you’re making AU, can you elucidate further?
On your question, the reason we force people to come to Europe illegally to claim asylum is because we’d be flooded with applications and successful claimants if we opened up the process.
The asylum rules are a 20th century anachronism that can’t deal with 21st century migrant flows driven largely by people not unreasonably wanting to improve their prospects by coming to the prosperous west and having a bit of what we’ve got.

It’s illegal to force your presence on a country outwith our current arrangements for taking in asylum seekers.
If it were legal millions of people could just for example enter a British Embassy and claim asylum and we would take them in.
It’s not

“There is no such thing as an "illegal" or "bogus" person seeking asylum. Under international law, anyone has the right to apply for asylum in any country that has signed the 1951 Convention and to remain there until the authorities have assessed their claim.”

Weather’s a bit mucky today, good time to scotch up on your knowledge😁

Being pedantic Tavy, isn't Farage just "Honoury President" of Reform so not actually his party? 🙂
