The Tory press turning on the Tory Govt now, even the Daily Mail. Actually, they're just pointing out the facts, but it is an indictment of the Government.
Anyone seen Hancock recently or has he still got coronavirus? It seems that the Govt is impotent and just laying low.
There is so little progress

Only around 8,000 hospital patients and NHS staff are being tested daily – well short of the government’s targets and far below the 70,000 a day achieved in Germany. In total, just 2,000 NHS workers – or 0.4% of those being exposed to the virus – have been tested so far, meaning thousands in isolation cannot get back to work.

Yesterday, from his home, "self-isolating"

"Mr Hancock also reiterated that the UK was "ramping up" its testing capacity and was buying "many millions" of tests to diagnose the infection."
.

I am not defending the Banks. Just pointing out that welfare should be delivered by government and not particular businesses. If Elgy is correct that the Banks are on little risk in lending with the 80% government guarantee then go the whole yard and guarantee 100% and tell the Banks to do no due diligence, require no security, no personal guarantee and no interest. Simples.
It's not welfare or a government handout, Al. With a 100% government-backed loan there'd be a risk that some banks lending to start up chancers and opportunists, not chasing bad debtors, etc knowing full well the govt would cover all repayments.

The banks are charging interest on these bridging loans, the govt are paying initial upfront payments, but the businessmen borrowing are 100% liable for the total loan, to be paid back over 6 years. Nice little earner for the banks, assuming we go back to a semblance of normality.

Crazy that she(& many others) can not have a test. They have asked.
Its making staff there very stressed.
"When China released the coronavirus genetic code on January 12 — a blueprint for producing tests — the UK became one of the first countries to develop an accurate test for the presence of the virus in patients."

A good government prepares for the worst and hopes for the best. This shower prepared for the best and are now sleepwalking into the worst.

Alok Sharma the Business Secretary should have stayed at home yesterday. Just a load of meaningless waffle and failure to answer any of the questions. Complete waste of space. Still, Hancock will be back soon.

Feckin’ dire.

Well there you go. I've said this many times before, being an apologist for dangerous incompetence or deflecting from it is not in the interests of the people of the nation and is therefore not patriotic.
Why can't these feckers just accept the truth and fess up that they've cocked up.
Two thousand tests done so far on 600,000 medical staff ! These tests are vital!
Germany has done 70,000 tests a day.!
Why can't we do that?
