Can anyone confirm that the ball went through the middle? I could have sworn that it went round the side of Sercs.

Got to agree, it did bounce too. It cant have been such a rocket as all that to bounce before going in.

Given that Harley bottles more frequently than Bon-Accord, surely it was a case of right wall, wrong brick.

Judge for yourself, 094 and 095 in the pics on the official site. All three in the wall look to be in varying degrees of bottling it.

The ball absolutely, 100% went through the wall - through the dead central gap vacated by the turning Harley in the photos malcolms mentions - so it does seem pretty harsh to say the wall was not set up well.

It's interesting really. Harley scored one, but was evidently responsible in part for their second goal. Paul Jones made several decent saves and wasn't responsible for either goal. Jones kicked badly a couple of times, and over-threw a couple of times. Harley misplaced a few passes too. Harley is being hailed (not without reason) as man of the match and, once again, Jones is the subject of a debate about whether he is amazing, awful or maybe just somewhere in between.

Who'd be a goalkeeper, eh?

Careful there, JM - that sounds perilously close to good sense :)

As always, it's worth listening to Tisdale - in his post-match comments, he made it clear what his opinion of the efforts of the wall was...&, in his half-time team-talk, apparently, in no uncertain terms. He also went out of his way to say that Jonsey kept us in the game in the 1st half when we'd gone 1-2 down.

Radio commentary wise, thats exactly the way it sounded. Jones making one save after another, and it appeared keeping us in the game. The Colchester manager said that his team should have gone in 3-1 up at the break. The only thing Richard Green (or Giler) mentioned was the hospital ball thrown out to Tully. Apart from that, there was no reason to suspect that Jonah was at fault with either of the goals he conceded. Further to that, the TV evidence is inconclusive because of the camera following the ball and blurring everything else. His kicking, poor or otherwise also didnt get mentioned.

Unfortunately, this thread has quite predictably turned into a Jonah based argument, with some nastiness along the way. I'm sure the OP didnt intend that. *-)

The county is ours.

That's the problem though.
