Great season for us, that one
Shows how times have changed. That's an attendance we'd be disappointed to get against Cambridge on Saturday now.September 1985
FL Attendances reached its nadir this season.
A decent crowd for the times at SJP for the League Cup game against Aston Villa. Kellows goal was a great volley.

Ah, the days of crowds just passing 2,000
Not a bad team, there.27th February 1971
Player Manager John Newman makes his last appearance of the season. He would make 4 further appearances at the start of the next season before hanging up his boots. John celebrated his 90th Birthday a couple of months ago. The last survivor of the 1956 FA Final where he was in the Birmingham City team against Manchester City.
I remember seeing him at SJP about 7 years ago, can’t recall what the occasion was.

They say that a manager creates a team in his own image..There are a few in that line up who were tough & would not put up with nonsense on a football field. Not a bad team, there.
