Laughing all the way to the bank is Southgate

Whats he ever done to deserve the job apart from being a typical FA yes man - nothing.
Who else should they give it to? Plus all this nonsense about waiting for Wenger, why on earth would he want the England job - I'd imagine the majority of decent managers are already at clubs with far better players than England have and are on far bigger pay packets with a lot less media aggro.

You could have quite easily applied that to Allardyce.

He's done 10 times what Southgate has - your mob would still be the premier league if they hadn't thought they was Barcelona and sacked him

Allardyce performed miracles at Bolton & Sunderland as well as getting West Ham into the premier league

Southgate relegated Middlesborough

Pretty unfair that

3 promotions with 3 different clubs - 2 of those Into the premier league

Managed 5 PL sides , Bolton , Blackburn , Newcastle , West Ham , Sunderland

Far better CV than Southgates

Not unfair at all. Promotion from the Championship is hardly a sparkling resume for the England job. His achievements still don't amount to a hill of beans really, he's pretty much just a real life Mike Bassett.

Yet it's still more than the current England manager has won.

Says it all
Sadly

Says nothing. Allardyce would still have been England manager if he hadn't been such an idiot. That he isn't is entirely his own fault not Southgate's. And as I said, other than Southgate who's out there who'd take it?

He managed to get an England side (albeit the u/21's) to the final of an international tournement. Said team contained most of what will be his charges now. There's a lot be said for continuity. Those lads performed for him then, hopefully those same lads can perform him again
