On hiatus.
Surely it's the fault of the Numpty who set it off?
Exactly. It's not a secret that these devices are frowned upon and aren't allowed in grounds. The mind boggles as to what sort of imbecile would take one into a match knowing the club could attract a fine it can ill afford.

The sort of imbecile who hasn't got the intelligence to realise it.

Never done this before
It's kids knowledge that to make a good smoke bomb all you need is a ping pong ball and some tinfoil, you can easily get away with it!
It would appear not, hence the impending fine.

Can you really make one out of just a ping pong ball and tinfoil? Seems a bit unlikely. (I'm not a kid so I don't have the 'knowledge').

Presumably it would need to be lit?

Simply wrap a ping pong ball airtight in tin foil then hold a lighter underneath for a minute and there you have it, a decent smoke ball.

Yep.

Identify them. Make them pay the fine and if they don't, ban them for life.
Completely agree. Don't think it should ever be the club that gets fined because of one idiot.

Presumably the person who said it off didn't think the club could be fined, have we ever been fined before for setting one off? I don't think so.

In a world of my own!
Surely, the public safety responsibility for the Stadium lays with the Home Club. They supply the security and if that security is sub-contracted to a private security company, then they should pay the fine for failing to meet their delegated responsibility for safety and security on the day of the match. Searches are part of their requirements, they were very strict on bottles not being allowed inside the ground, perhaps they concentrated too much on that.

Don't understand why it was in the refs report, must be a jobsworth because it was dropped in the stand.
