Don't really know what point you're trying to make here
Not trying to make a point as such Ian, more an observation really.

At the risk of labouring things, was surprised that a former World Champion, New York-born, Italian-American boxer can't shift that many tickets even when challenging for a world title at the Mecca of boxing in NYC itself.

NY spawned Italian boxers like Willie Pep, Jake la Motta and Graziano amongst others, and so there's a rich heritage. Not sure whether it's the boxers who ain't popular, there's just too many belts now, or boxing itself is losing popularity.

Only mentioned Cotto because the NY Puerto Ricans always followed him strongly.

Oh, and if City played Stockport or Leeds for the title, there'd be a full house at the Park, the proper arena St James that is, to watch it. Guaranteed. :D

Think he will mature now especially after being knocked down like he was in a previous fight

Thanks to a bout of insomnia brought on by sore hand (catch the ball and it doesn't hurt, dammit!) and overly noisy Missus, I saw the fight live. Quite dull really - Malignaggi offered nothing throughout, while Khan seemed to feel that he was doing enough without really exerting himself.

Apparently Malignaggi isn't exactly well-liked in NY, hence the lack of interest.
