Stupid money - that's why. If you had the chance to double or even treble your salary by doing exactly the same thing but working in some dog end office somewhere, I don't believe you'd turn it down. Especially if you were told that no matter who you worked for, you wouldn't be able to do the job beyond another ten years at the absolute maximum.
I still believe the majority of footballers, especially those at the top of their game still would choose winning stuff over stupider money.

Maybe so, but who would turn it down? The moralists will say they'd never accept such an offer, but to be honest it's rubbish. Besides, if you earn £13M per year you can always donate £12.95M to charities of your choosing if it pricks your conscious that much.

Personally I say good luck to him, and am as envious as hell that it's not me earning that much.
Not really judging the individual, rather the state of affairs that brings this situation about.

I doubt Kaka will go. He's not a mercenery like, say, Ballack and he loves AC. I'd be very surprised if he does leave for the cash when he already earns millions a year, is a superstar at a superclub and has the world at his feet. As has been said here I feel a lot of footballers right at the top aren't motivated by money because they get paid so much already. They want the kudos and glory as well and that's why City will struggle initially to get the superstar players they want. It's why they're being linked with Santa Cruz rather than, say, David Villa this transfer window no matter how much $$ gets offered.

I don't think there's any need to be sarcastic. Obviously you don't know me but I'm not a hemp-wearing socialist with a dislike of all things monetary. I appreciate how the world works.

It doesn't stop the kind of money being talked about being obscene. I constantly wonder what the 'fit and proper person' b/s that the FA test owners upon actually covers?

Not fit for English football, that's for sure. Poor Michael Johnson and Dan Sturridge :-\
:D i really wasnt being sarcastic

It seems Man City are ready to pay well in excess of £100 Million for Kaka and have entered into talks with the Player.

A reported £107 Million pound fee has been agreed with another £31 Million due to be paid to his Agents.

But how could he turn down the opportunity to play alongside Stephen Ireland and Dietmar Hamann?

That's his motivation.

Darius Vassell up front with Robinho has to be the biggest mismatch in skills of a forward pairing in the history of football :D
