My guess is that somebody reported it, so it was removed. No infraction points involved I take it?

You're not the only one, the linesmen check twice a match.
Not that they always make a good job of it, for example the occasion when Mackie scored and the ball went through a gap between the post and the net, and the referee initially only awarded a goal kick ! :)

He would be happy though as they’ve got the cameras on the right side of the pitch so no-one can see the gaps.

Except for the gaps of empty seats in the stands.

Not so. The main stand on view today had a huge gap on the left hand end; with a mobile snackbar with 'Time to Eat' painted on the front. It looked so naff!
