For the first ten minutes I thought us the better team, knocking it around with ease. Plymouth soon got wise though and began closing us down making us resort to rash passes and clearances, neither of which were particularly effective. Seemed reasonable to me to go in level.

Second half though we were utterly clueless. Too many times they were first to the ball while we stood around watching, passes went all over the place and control was non existent. Their goal was typical of our poor defending. Ribero and, I think, Woodman got in each other's way with neither clearing when it was crying out for someone just to smash it ove on of the stands' roof when instead an Argyle forward smashed it into the roof of the net. It was exactly what we deserved and for some time after we simply had no idea whatsoever what to do.

Noble's introduction calmed things down and turned the game around, allowing Watkins licence to run all over the shop without fear of losing possession as he knew there was cover looking after him. His first goal was a calamitous as ours with the child killer fumbling a shot from into his net at the near post. His second was as good as you'll see in any division this season. In fact, it was better than that and reminded me so much of Harley's winner against Huddersfield to keep us in L1 all those years ago. He picked the ball up wide of the box on the right before dancing across the box leaving confused defenders and missed tackles in his wake before crashing a quite brilliant thunderbolt into the opposite top corner of the net from 25 yards leaving the child killer stranded. And in stoppage time too.

Mental.

So who cares if we were sh*te for 80 minutes? Who cares that our defending would have made an eight year old blush? Who cares that Woodman and Davies should never be seen in City shirts again and that it'll be no loss if every defender at the club is replaced at the end of the season? Who cares about Tis' contract, the redevelopment or our home form? Today, now, no-one should. Today is why we love our infuriating and frustrating football club, why we endure those painful home defeats game after game, season after season, why we spend hours on here arguing like babies, why we renew our season tickets despite swearing this season will be the last.

Exeter City you are a bunch of b****rds, you tease and goad us mercilessly, you make us hate you, you make us throw our hard earned money at you when you know full well you don't deserve a penny and you don't deserve our love. But today we do, more than we love our f***ing kids, because today you did the impossible, you gave us back our pride and you gave us a reason to believe you're not as sh*te as you've tried all season to convince us you are.

So for the second time in three seasons we do the double over Plymouth, are unbeaten in eight and two points off the play-offs. Sure we know there are faults and that there are a lot of things that could be better but if you're going to concentrate on that, today, after that result then you don't really get what supporting your team is all about.

As a City fan, it really doesn't get much better than this.
Post of the year Ant pretty much sums up why we do it week after week , season after season - Lets Enjoy This One - UTC

A win against Plymouth is always a savoury one however apart form Oli and Watkins the rest were decidedly pants. I though Ribs was particularly poor...he should buy Oli's chips tonight.. I said some months back we would one day play poorly and win...and today we did.

Shame we couldn't win some of our previous home games ...we would be sitting pretty now rather than just hoping.

One player we must retain next season is young Ollie...clubs will be sniffing around soon if they haven't been already.
Who gives a ****! We just beat our biggest rivals.

No earthly need for the "leaving the child killer stranded" - Otherwise excellent.

If we'd won all of them we'd be top of the league.

Great result today. Let's just enjoy it.
Interesting end to the season in prospect. Great stuff.

Backing Gary Caldwell, thanks Matt and good luck.
What a fantastic and surprising finish to the match.

Plymouth were a strong well organised team and were the better side for three quarters of the match. For me, we didn't have enough tempo or energy about us and our passing took too long. It wasn't a surprise that we conceded a goal and although that got a reaction it wasn't looking like we had enough about us to come back into it. Bringing noble on made a huge difference and it was noticeable that once we started trying to get forward in numbers that argyle looked less assured.

Will look forwards to seeing the goals later, but wasn't expecting Watkins shot to find the back of the net, but was great fun after the pandemonium to inform mr McCormick whose fault it was (rofl). After that we started to play more like it mattered and Watkins winner will live long in the memory. Adams made himself look a right **** in his interview calling it a lucky goal, yes they can feel unfortunate to have lost but when the score line is tight you can never be sure and imo that was a goal worthy of winning any game.

We are right back into the picture, on that performance can't make us good enough to keep it going, but let's give it our best shot. Going to enjoy that winning feeling though before looking forwards to Yeovil next week. Well done to all concerned.

I have no problem with the term, Those who feel strongly will vent their spleen (im in the camp) others will not. Personal choice.
