Ex City player charity run

Calling all Exeter fans.....

My name is James Berry, for those of you who can't remember I came through the youth system at Exeter City before breaking my leg on my first team debut in a pre-season friendly against Crediton. Despite the horrific challenge sidelining me for 2 years, I was lucky enough to be given a lifeline by Paul Tisdale in the form of a professional contract. Unfortunately I never quite came back the same player and things did not work out. After trying out my luck at a few other clubs, I then decided to go to University, which I currently am at studying law, all the way up in Sunderland!

Recently after being inspired by the bravery shown by my uncle in battling cancer, I have decided to embark in a mammoth challenge for charity! This summer, me and another friend (an ex Bath rugby player) will be running 634 miles down the complete length of France! Running between 25 and 30 miles a day, for 24 days straight, we will be doing this completely unsupported and camping all the way down. It is going to be a ridiculous challenge, but hopefully the magnitude of it will create a lot of buzz and interest and therefore raise a large amount of money! My chosen charity is Macmillan Cancer Support, which I feel is a fantastic cause which offers amazing support.

With Exeter City being my boyhood club, it is still held very fondly to me and that is mainly due to the amazing fans and your support that you showed me following my broken leg. It would be unbelievably appreciated if you could once again show your support by donating any money that you can to help me reach and surpass the targets which I have set! At the bottom of this post, I have included my charity page where you could make donations, I would also appreciate if you could spread the word to other fans, family and friends,

Thank you very much in advance!

James Berry - one of the unluckiest players to wear the shirt. Top lad as well. He deserves our support.

Good luck James. Hope Exewebbers are feeling generous.

Good to see that you're getting on with your life, despite the cruelty of the situation 2 years ago.

Bloody awful challenge that was too, I remember hearing the crunch from the side of the pitch where we were watching.

Best of luck James, I'll stick my hand in my pocket over the next couple of days too.
