The draw will be made on Friday at 12.30 on Talksport.

No sponsors for the trophy this season.

I predict we'll be in a group with Bristol Rovers, Argyle, and a Prem U23 side.

Speaks of the general stink around the whole thing.

Is it not sponsored by the EFL? Still an opportunity to give reserves and young plays a competitive match. The competition is only worth talking about if you get to the semi finals and beyond. Only vague interest before that. Still worth continuing with it.

Can't give as many reserve and young players competitve game time due to the restrictions against heavily rotating the team. Making it a straight knock-out competition without youth teams would be far better, but the clock never goes back.

Now Harvey's gone I thought they might have binned it.
Sunderland and Pompey getting to the final and taking it seriously was the worst thing that could have happened.
I'll be boycotting it again

Backing Gary Caldwell, thanks Matt and good luck.

If we aren't suffering from many injuries we should be ok with using as many of the younger players as we can. Expect whoever is second choice keeper will play in this, and if it doesn't affect our other matches the club will probably be keen to have as many games in it as possible. As people have said the fans aren't going to get over excited about it unless we get to the latter stages but we've reached area finals before so not impossible.

The prize money has also probably been useful, although if there isn't a sponsor this time then maybe we won't be getting 10k per win like before.

I think the Premier League will still be sticking in a stack of money.

With the squad we are assembling a long run in this competition could be quite beneficial to us this season.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
From the EFL site.

The teams are split into 16 regional groups of four teams, with eight groups from the northern region and eight from the southern region.

There are 16 Category One academy sides invited to take part in the competition, with the invited teams selected based on the club's taking part in the competition in 2019/20 are as follows:

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Academy sides will play each of the other three sides in their group away from home, with the top two teams qualifying for the knockout stages, which remain regionalised until the quarter-finals.

Waste of time for all concerned- the sooner this competition is binned the better.
