What happened with this then?

I think this is Matt Taylor's first lesson : don't say that a signing is very imminent when you're not sure. The Oates signing/non-signing was going to be announced within 48 hours about a week ago.
However, chin up, maybe an announcement will be made at the meeting tonight.

Fret not . Remember the age old adage , 'Act in haste .Repent at leisure' . MT never panicked as a central defender. It's a long season . We have some excellent young prospects chafing at the bit who will go through brick walls for MT. You only have to look at MT's predecessor to see how easy it was to sign a number of players who spent virtually all their time drawing their wages for very little return. Let's not encourage MT to waste hard earned resources in what is a cut throat environment not 'played' on a level playing field. In the final analysis 'cream always comes to the surface' . MT will deliver .

My point was that it's better not to say a signing is imminent within 48 hours if he is not sure. Agree that there is no panic.
