It's psychological, isn't it? There is an air of resignation, combined with weak leadership (where a show of strength 12 months ago has left a greater team atmosphere, at the expense of team performance), combined with very poor decision making by the players.

We're seeing the fruits of the ECB selling its soul to sky all those years ago.

Sadly, not only on the international stage, cricket is a sport in marked decline.

What rubbish. England were ranked one in the world not long ago, a long time after they 'sold their soul'.

Not at all Ant. It has nothing to do with England's current, or previous rankings.

Participation is down significantly, leagues are struggling.

It's only going one way. There will always be purple patches, but we're going to be behind the majority of international teams, in all forms of the game, for some time to come.

Easy win in the end but like you say, so slow. Massive runs were there for everyone and we played it like a test match, even when the final 20 overs came and we hadn't lost a wicket.

Scotland were routinely whipped by our County sides when playing in the domestic one day events so no great kudos from this victory.

Watching Ian Bell patting the ball back to the Scottish pie throwers was enough to have me reaching for the TV off button.
