Get in boys good result against an average side maybe but still great for confidence

Talk of Mooen Ali coming back for Sri Lanka strange how being out the side makes you a better player....

I’d go with this for the first test in Sri Lanka

Sibley
Crawley
Denley
Root
Stokes
Pope
Foakes
Bess
Broad
Wood
Leach

2 spinners.

Also delighted for Wood - what a top bloke he seems.

4 spinners with Root and Denley. Not sure about Jack Leach. Has he been flattered by the County Ground bunsens ?

Denley can't bat and he can't bowl. His confidence is low : and that's official. The bloke needs a break.
And it must be horses for courses.
I like Woods but not sure if he can be effective on Sri Lanka wickets.
I"m sticking my neck out with my team selection.

Pope won’t bat at 4 he will stay at 6 below root & Stokes and rightly so....

Parkinson won’t be selected either he will be back with the lions

You might be right about Pope, although I feel that there is no reason why he shouldn't bat higher. I'd rather have him at the wicket with the more established batsmen so he has time to build a big innings, rather than scrapping it out with the lower order batsmen, which Stokes is particularly good at.

We also have to put things in perspective regarding winning against SA. They are a poor side, with some of their top players excluded due to playing abroad.
However, you can only beat what's in front of you and we did that well, but bigger challenges lie ahead
Great to see younger players given a chance and taking it. Would always prefer selecting young players with potential than veterans going through the motions.
