Over 8000 packed the park yesterday and the whole ground was buzzing throughout the match. if league one was to happen, the crowd would be around 6-8 every week, dont you think?

No. It'd be around 5000 or less for smaller games but 6000 or more for bigger ones....if we're doing well. If we were rock bottom we'd be back to 3500 to 4000.

Come play with us Danny, forever and ever and ever
We as a club have to be realistic - acknowledging our fan base elasticity. Re-emphasising the comments made by SRJ, we'd go back to BSP crowd sizes (perhaps a trickle more) if we were to flop in League 1. Fickle fans only want to turn up if they know that they are likely to see a victory. In fairness, you could probably add 800-1000 on top of our current season average, per match. Bigger games could see 6,5-7,5K on the gates. To replicate this attendance, we'd be having to push for playoffs in League 1. I know that it's a team effort really, but with the likes of Stuey and Troy at the club - anything is possible!!!

Biggest question is not whether victories and crowd sizes would be achievable, moreover that we need to know which teams are points docked thus giving us a Day 1 edge. ((Assuming we go up that is))

We'd get a good attendance for games like Bristol Rovers, Swindon and Yeovil!

Our attendance fell by 600 in our first season in what is now League 1 in 1990/1 (and that was a relatively good season - 16th), and fell a further 600 the next year. If we do make it, we have to realise that we will sometimes be trying to grind out home draws - necessary stuff in my view against tough opponents but some people have ridiculous expectations.

Having said that, as people have said, the teams in League 1 next year are tastier than they were in those days (may well include Leeds, Forest, Charlton plus some SW semi-derbies). Fulham and Bolton were there in those days but they weren't big names at the time.

Go back 20 years or so and see what we were pulling in then. It'd be about the same this time round once the initial euphoria had died down.

Can't help feeling that your exeweb name has a limited shelf life.

Mr Treharne says we aren't allowed any euphoria.

I think we would get a hard core 4000+ attendance in L1. Teams are a bit nearer, so will have more away fans. Bigger teams in L1 next year than we had in 1991 so a few more sarfenders will turn up.
