An honest view of the game?

I don't think it was our style of play that brushed off on you. It doesn't work like that. We just got in your faces and didn't give you time on the ball, thus forcing you to play long ball. Our numbers 8 and 10 chased everything and gave your midfield very little time to pick out a pass and all you had in the first half was the ball over the top to Cureton who should've put you 1 up.

I still think we passed more than we hoofed yesterday though. That's still sour grapes to me. None of our goals or chances came from long balls and the only one who did it all the time was our number 12, but he always does anyway so it's nothing new.

The fans of every team we beat away from home seem to think we were poor and everytime a team beats us at prenton park, our fans label them the same. To me, it's no coincidence but I know that if you had played like we did yesterday and vice versa and won 4-0, we'd all be saying 'that's why they're near the play offs'
I agree with you to some extent. Earlier in the season we were skillfully and physically played off the park away to Bournemouth (lost 3-0). On the return game we chased everything in midfileld and didn't let them settle even in their own half. It worked a treat and we played them off the park. Our away and home games against Orient went exactly the same way (although there were other circumstances involved with our away game). If you face a good footballing team, chase, harrass, don't give them time to settle, it so often works. Maybe we are somewhat similar in ability (but in differing ways). I thought your finishing was good yesterday, just didn't enjoy the bullybloggs type of play. Exeter needs to be a good footballing side but have a bit of size and brute force as well, a mediocre big person will always beat a mediocre small player 90% of the time in a one-2-one. Overall footballing skill...now that's a bit different;)

Are you trying to be funny, Poultsy? :)
In what way Banky ?

He performed a near miracle last season and they are two points off 15th place having never ,imho, looked in much trouble.

There are no prizes for finishing 15th. Anything above 20th is just about ego, innit?

You're not singing the praises of year on year progression, are you?

Ah I see where you are going with this, I of course apply an entirely different criterion to clubs where I couldn't give a fetid dingo's gonad if they win, lose, draw or disappear up the Mersey.

You're right of course, there is a dichotomy there, but bite me.

Let's not forget that 7th position represents failure.

I was pretty impressed with Tranmere to be honest. Don't think their style was too 'agricultural', either. They knocked the ball about a bit, especially in the first half. As for 'bullying', we looked very feeble in challenges on the whole and Tranmere closed the space down well, but I don't think they were dirty at all. The only piece of obvious cheating in the match was Dunnes shirt-pull. The important point, however, is that we are rarely that bad (as our position testifies) and Tranmere are rarely that good (as their position testifies). On the day, however, they were better than us at every aspect of the game.
