In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
It was all a bit surreal with the Wolves lot charging from the BB and climbing into the Cowshed via the grass bank. I still remember it vividly.
The last few posts are about 10 months too late....:D.....

Anyway,Wolves did not get into the Cowshed at the front, they were succesfully repelled by all & sundry(this was of course before the walkway at the front was installed, ruining the Cowshed)...They did sneak in to the back in the 2nd half via a open gate fron the SJ Road end,but were soon sent packing by some of Beacon Heath & BHL's finest..

A crazy day at SJP.....Compare that to some of the 'handbags' with which some poeple get sent down for now..

I vaguely remember there was a band on the pitch either before the game kicked off or at half time, a load of Wolves fans invaded the pitch and ran through the band who continued playing,
Yep, the band was the Lympstone Silver Band, my Dad was a member and apparently the Wolverhampton hordes took umbrage to the bands injudicious choice of music....Who`s afraid of the big bad wolf!

interesting thread on gnet (for once! :D;)) about the Wolves FA Cup game 32 years ago today. It finished 2-2, and Wolves were in the old first division .

My memories of the game...

Harry Holmans goal at the away end
Wolves full back Geoff Palmer continually brushing his hair
Being stood near the Ku klux Klan in the Big bank
Seeing graffitti "Chung is a chink" being sprayed on the outside of the away end
Dalys late equaliser - I thought it was Steve Daley but Ian Tarr says it was Maurice..
The scenes at the end with the crossbar being snapped.

Anyone else there?
Kirky I was there but it in the 3rd round of the FA cup and played in January after City beat Minhead in the 2nd round. What i do remember is that I climbed from the big bank into the cow shed as there was so much trouble going on.There was a brass band playing in the centre circle and the Wolves fans invading the pitch whilst they were playing. after the game the one thing that sticks out was the crossbar being broken by the wolves fans

Apart from all the match antics already mentioned. I recall all their coaches were parked along Union Road due to the vast numbers they brought down. Their escort back to the coaches resulted in numerous house windows being put through.

Remember it vividly, trying to stop the Wolves fans getting over the fence at the front of the Cowshed after they had charged up the grass bank!!

IIRC we had similar problems (but on a smaller scale) the following season when Watford came down for a 4th round League Cup game the following season.

Paid Thursdays, ****** Fridays a few beers and a ruck at the footie on Saturdays, absoloute Heaven!! .......Happy Days!!
Whilst some on here will criticise the use of violence when faced with a marauding band of fans trying to take your end only a coward would run. Stand and fight or you lose the respect of your friends and family. I recall Sheffield United and Cardiff fans in the cowshed getting a hiding by the real Sly Crew, T Stand, STAB and the the like. Not looking for those days to return but you did what you had to do in those days. No cocaine needed in those days to make yourself brave, unlike today's wannabes.

Fighting is so 1980's. It aint trendy anymore

The Wolves fans did not get into the Cowshed at the front, certainly not near the half way line. We had all agreed that if necessary we would try and stop them climbing over the fence if they came up the grass bank. This did not happen, however, due mainly to WPC Jackie Jackson who stood her ground and confronted the Wolves fans. This was no mean feat and all credit to her - they were a fierce lot ! An evening I will never forget that's for sure.
