Any player, the same as any other commodity, is worth whatever price the seller wants and whether anyone is prepared to pay it.

Which is worse for football? A transfer fee of £108m, which can be put back into football as no doubt it will be spent on transfer fees to other clubs. Or signing a player on a Bosman and the buying club being able to offer higher wages to an already over-paid footballer which means the money goes straight out of the game? IMO the Bosman ruling has done more harm than will be done by Manchester City chucking around stupid money. At the end of the day though, football will always survive.
