The Bank appears less full to me for sell outs than 5-10 years ago, though that may be a false perception. Of course no shows could be another valid reason. The picture below, taken during yesterday's match, shows a fair bit of room at the railway track side of the terrace.
I acknowledge also...
Agreed, we won't drop to 2K, but the level of drop surely depends on whether we go down, doesn't it? There's a lot more 'big games' in L1 than L2.
Also, in the seats especially, people want to retain access to the convenience and quality of view on offer with football in something of a boom...
Yep, I remember us singing about going to Wembley, as we'd reached the Autoglass Trophy area final IIRC. Police with dogs to drive the Argyle fans out of the Lyndhurst stand to give us safe passage eventually 😄 Argyle fans running at the fence in front of the away end and being dragged away by...
I make it the best official attendance since the 2 new stands were opened. I also have it as the largest crowd since 8,383 saw us defeat Huddersfield in May 2010, unless anyone knows differently! Earlier that season we had 8,549 against Leeds, in January.
Both Liverpool cup ties in the 2010s...
Agreed, I'm not suggesting anything illegal occurred. Just that the council (officers, councillors) were sympathetic throughout the relevant processes within the scope of the rules available to them. Which shows how supportive local councils can be to their sporting clubs.
Moreso I suspect they...
As I recall they have assisted Chiefs a number of times with Planning related matters. Getting planning permission to build and expand Sandy Park. Permission to build a multistorey hotel, which at the least is very prominent in it's location. Permission to hold pop concerts etc etc.
And closer to home, Exeter City Council bending over backwards to help Exeter Chiefs. Albeit that's rugby, but local authorities generally enjoy basking in the reflected glory of sporting success...
If so that would be a clear weakness, not a strength, of our current model. Especially with record income recently, over multiple seasons.
Surely at some stage any board would have to act. Not saying it's reached that point today at all. If the crowd really turns, attendances drop to...
It's an interesting comparison. I suspect many will feel City have priced it about right.
Some teams like Bradford offer low priced season tickets, as they have for a number of years, to get volume of people through the gate and promote secondary spend. They have the excess capacity to make...
Same problem for me too. Every home game has worked a treat with no buffering etc at all.
I thought I would give an away game a go and really wishing I hadn't bothered. I haven't seen any of this match at all so far
Agreed. No comparison with the 3rd round reply with Liverpool which still rankles even now! Great experience you would imagine for many of those playing tonight.
