You are correct. Thoroughly miserable experience. I think he thinks he's actually a bit of character and his dour outlook on everything is 'quirky'. Whereas everyone else just thinks he's a complete ****. Makes being paid to commentate on football sound like a massive inconvenience that has ruined his day. Clearly bitter that he misses out on the bigger games too.

I also intensely dislike the way he says "into the penalty area" but that may just be me

The North Korea cameramen charging around the Great Dictator and his mate Kim at the DMZ. Looks to me that they didn't even have the cameras on. Plus the exaggerated worship of Kim by the people, who are sh+t scared that they will not smile, cheer, or cry enough at the right time. It's sad really, but I can't help smiling.
