The positive is Taylor has plenty of flexibility now to bring in his own players, he must have plenty of the budget to play with, I'm looking forward to seeing who he brings in.

If croll is a regular starter we'll be in the ****.
Croll has looked a liability every time I have seen him, yet another of Tisdale's masterstrokes, he certainly doesn't strike me as the kind of defender Taylor would admire.

Dean Moxey - full time left sided centre back, could be the answer.

Possibly suits him more than left back at this stage of his career.

The negative of this is that it increases the chances of Woodman playing.

It is the answer not "could be".

If it is the case that the prior contract would have allowed JMT to leave in the summer (post 32), it is likely that the club was negotiating from a very weak start-point. Under these circumstances, it is perhaps understandable that the release clause was the only way they could get the player (potentially) under contract for 2018/19.
The thing is, new contracts for highly-rated players usually come with significant pay rises. He'd also probably want to stay if we're in League 1. If he's getting a big bump in salary for committing to us, but this clause exists... what's in it for the club? It smells to me like the clubs side was negotiated with something other than the club's best interests in mind. How that has been allowed to happen, I don't know but it really smells like bad oversight. If its Christmas and he wants the option to leave in the summer, that's fine... but you just keep going on the same salary in that instance.

bit short sighted of JMT to move to another team in lg2 - clearly he is a step above lg2 but to do this to your home town club leaves a bitter taste. The next worst thing he could have done was sign for the green scum down in cornwall
