Since the first time I saw Jamie play I thought that he had the ability to become a Football League player.
He has a natural talent that most players do not have but his progress appears to have slowed. This is not unusual when players get their first "proper" contract as many believe that they have made it.
I would like to see him receive specialist forward coaching to focus his natural ability and his mind on all aspects of his game.
Ian Holloway uses this type of coach by employing Gary Penrice on a part time basis and he was responsible for the likes of Nathan Ellington, Jason Roberts, Bobby Zamora, Jamie Cureton, Barry Hayles etc all improving their games and going on to play at a higher level.
I hope that this happens with Jamie Mackie as he has the talent and I would hate to see him become another frustrating statistic.
