1.75 million tune in for the Warrington v Exeter Cup Tie

It’s taken a while to get hold of the official numbers, but the live showing of the FA Cup first round tie between non league Warrington Town and Exeter City attracted an average of 1.75 million viewers to the BBC 2 live screening. For Friday 7th November this represented 8.2% of the audience share for the evening. The showing dominated the audience figures for BBC 2 and was the highest showing outside of the main channels of BBC 1, ITV 1 and Channel 4.

For the week, the showing came in behind shows like Masterchef and University Challenge. While Grecian fans would have been hugely disappointed, the BBC would have been delighted at the game and the result for their first foray back in to live FA Cup coverage.
