Having been released by Cheltenham Town, former Grecians goal-scoring ace Jamie Cureton is a still a wanted man. It is being reported that the 38-year-old is wanted by Bristol Rovers and Torquay United. Both clubs having just been relegated to the Conference are keen to bounce straight back.
Torquay were short of goals the past season, and Rovers may well lose O’Toole during the close season.
Cureton said after his release:-
I have loads of targets and I am nowhere near finished yet. I feel I finished the season well and started to show what I was all about, so I don’t think I struggled for fitness.
I am used to my age being brought up and I know I need to have a good year every year, but I am looking forward to a new challenge now.”
I have not spoken to Bristol Rovers and I am absolutely gutted they went down this season. It would be a hell of an achievement to score the goals to get them back into the Football League if it came off and it would obviously be great to be a part of that.
Ideally I’d like to stay in the Football League, but it has to be the right club, which suits my style of play. Teams will see the best of me when they are attacking a lot and I won’t sign for a club for the sake of it.
