Sunderland Linked to Matt Grimes Move

Exeter City’s young midfielder has caught the attention of many a top flight club. His assured performances earned the 18 year old the player of the season accolade from fans. Having made his debut in the 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon last August Grimes has made 37 appearances this season, when most expected an occasional appearance for experience purposes.

His first goal came at the end of the season came at Chesterfield with a nicely struck free-kick.

The Journal has reported that Sunderland are interested, with boss Gus Poyet seeing the youngster as having some potential in his Premiership side.

The player is under contract at Exeter City so a transfer fee would be involved. How much is the player worth. Tough question, but any fee would include additional money after appearances no doubt international caps. Plenty of room for speculation by fans in the meantime.
