Whilst it's pleasing to see us up top, did I read somewhere that the U18's are now going through a transitional stage as they move to the next stage of their careers and that our teams this half won't be as strong as they were earlier in the season

yep. Players like Michael Lilley and Eli Collins have just gone out on loan to (low level) men’s football. So not normally available for the U18s any more. Some more u16s will be in the under 18s - either with scholarships tied up or to play for.
Interesting too that with decisions for next season being made in different age groups there will be movement/ trials in and out etc. Lilley and Eli Collins have presumably been offered pro terms for next season.

Tricky task against 'the best academy in Devon'
Had to laugh as it looks like Chelski are up to there old tricks with the unmentionables 40 mileish W of the Fairer City of Exeter who also believe that:-

"Our academy has been identified as an integral part of the club's long-term success and it continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of (director of football) Neil Dewsnip. This is evidenced by the number of players breaking into the first team at Home Park, as well as international recognition of our players at youth level."

Can someone remind me which Devon club :-

1. was the first to identify their academy as an integral part of success ?
2. how long the above Devon club's academy (1 above) has been going from strength to strength ?
3. how many players from the academy (1 above) have broken into the first team and been internationally recognised ?

Chad - please feel free to remind the lads before they run out that they are representing the first Devon club to recognise the importance of an academy, have produced full internationally recognised players and have play with around 6 academy graduates in the first team squad.
