📝 City under-18s - 23/24 pre-season update 1

Exeter City’s Under-18s have enjoyed a constructive first week back in training as the scholars reported back to the Cliff Hill Training Ground for the start of their preparations for the new 2023/2024 season.

I'm sure our Loanwatch 23/24 thread will cover the loans as soon as the first loan is made (oh, just noticed it was me* who started the thread last year). And great work by others, especially DawlishBuoy, last year in match by match updates as to who played whilst out on loan.

Last season someone (actually Dawlish Buoy again!) helpfully provided the list of academy players, divided into age groups, from available info and I hope this can be repeated. That was on page 8 of the Youth 22-23 thread. Included as an U16 was the first mention of Jake Richards!

Of the players listed as under 15’s Crees and Mohammadi made their under 18’s debuts last season.
Of the players listed as under 16’s Beadman, Cavendish, Cooper, Cutler, Layer, Oakes, Ohanaka, Richards and Shanahan all played games for the under 18’s last season.

We are awaiting info on which of these players have been given first year scholarships.

The players listed as under 18’s are now pros or released except Daniels who appears to be retained as a third year sscholar.

its a great list that DB has posted above. Somewhat strangely the U17s from last season weren't listed, so no mention of Sam Joce, Tom Dean or Max Edgecombe. So I think Jose and Dean will be second year scholars and Edgecombe of the same year group but already has a pro contract.

I do hope we can enter the Premier League Cup this year. Very good experience for all concerned in my opinion

Good spot, that failed to register with me. Scott Simmons was also part of the under 17’s group missing from the list. And Birch from the under 16’s list also played a couple of games for the under 18’s last season.
