Local to the area, will be cheap and what have we got to loose? Would much rather sign someone like this than an old has been like Parkin!

The club has a strong youth structure and many of this years first team squad have come through it. What's the point in trying to develop talent from a young age if your just going to ignore them and keep taking "punts" on players from outside. Frear impressed at Salisbury last season but in his showings for ECFC he never looked like a league player. Just because someone has a good record in a lower league it does not always translate to a good player at a higher level. We have enough young players at the club who may or may not make it in the next 12 months, lets just see how they get on first.

It's about %. There is more chance of a released Prem youth prodct making it than someone coming up from our youth development scheme. No one is saying ignore our players but we seem to give a contract to anyone 18 year old who has ever trained with us and hardly any make it.

I would suggest when it comes to contract offering you leave space for 2 or 3 youth products that aren't from your own system and then you have a good balance and more chance of developing a valuable asset.
