Well done, not a rugger fan but they have come a long way since the county ground days and it’s more kudos for the city of Exeter.(I still can’t forgive them for pushing out the Exeter falcons though )

That was some game and a hell of a result for the club and City of Exeter. As you say, it seems a very long time ago that Exeter we’re playing local rugby at the county ground.

Superb win - full of guts. Great defence when a man short to protect their line as the French made their big effort. And great control of possession at the death. (y)

It is quite an incredible story really. We Devonians are a funny lot, you would think the entire place would be full square behind Chiefs and shouting from the rooftops over their amazing achievements. But no, it's "Bah, don't like rugby".

Would that be in the same way Chiefs' fans are fully behind our football team? Of course there are some who follow both sports but for those who don't one side is no better or worse than the other.

It's a dynasty. Remember Rob's dad - John, playing at the County Ground. His uncle Paul, also played front row for the Chiefs.

Just as an aside, Paul Baxter managed our primary school football team, and took us to SJP for the Exeter school's final. As with Paul Reaney that season, I had to miss out on the final due to a broken leg, so never managed to grace the hallowed turf ! We lost to Ladysmith :(
