Often overlooked in my view. My wife's cousin has just moved out there (for 3 years so he can then nigh on retire at 40!) and he's lucky as he gets 4 flights a year and 6 months paid rent. He's also extremely frugal but is also very surprised at the rental costs. He's no children or partner so will do just fine, but I am told that school fees are also really, really high.
My eldest had a similar experience working in Singapore for a couple of years a few years back. The high wages and subsidised flights were far outweighed by the ludicrous rental costs.
(Mind you, similar is starting to happen here - bar the wages of course. No wonder London is being referred to as Singapore* on Thames.
(*or should that read Singa-poor?)

Oddly enough, my wife's uncle lived in Singapore for a few years, but they lived on some kind of houseboat so they're quite wealthy as a result. It was also quite a few years back prior to everyone wanting a piece.
