The spat between Boris and Sadiq Khan over the parlous state of TfL finances is interesting. Not sure who is to blame as I have not studied the facts in detail. I find it mildly amusing that Mr Khan is partly blaming the burden of debt interest for the problem. Rather odd that when the Labour party (and to be fair those of other political persuasions) say it is possible to throw as much money as you want at problems these days because debt interest is so low. Perhaps not a get out of jail free card after all.

Train drivers in London are on circa 80k a year including overtime and benefits.

Is this reasonable ?

£80k a year. Thank feck for unions. Wish I was allowed one. In these parlous times joining a union is such a good idea.

Interesting to note that there has been no threats of strikes by tfl drivers in the past 8 months. Nothing even close when closedowns are never usually far away. It's a different ball game now. Maybe some of them realise they're lucky to be in work.

North Devon MP, quite an unbelievable stance, no wonder she deleted the tweet

As reasonable as the Government looking for someone who's good at recovering a failing business (This is the "World Beating" Trace & Test system they're talking about) and are offering up to 2k PER DAY! As seen on a Government job vacancy website.

It’s strange how some of the proper Tories on here view things like Unions.
If some high falutin City type used whatever leverage he could to enhance his remuneration package they no double would admire his chutzpah and wish him well, an ordinary working chap with the onerous responsibility for maybe hundreds of lives on his train plays the angles in a similar way and he’s thought of differently.
Unity is Strength.

How do you define a “proper Tory” Tavers ?
