The problem with the fervour of ideological beliefs held by party bases is that the party bases tend to vastly over-estimate how many people agree with them or will ever realistically agree with them. That dynamic can be applied to every holder of a political opinion. With respect I recall folks like yourself being all snooty about those of concerned about EU freedom of movement for years, that snootiness turned to surprise and anger when we voted to end FOM in a certain 2016 referendum.
You and BB are right though there is no guarantee that the Tories attempting to garner the social conservative vote will save them from losing heavily in the next GE.

This is something that is very obvious on the streets in Truro - the numbers of people who are sleeping rough has been steadily increasing for ten years and is now surging higher and higher. It must be said that although Truro is still overall a lovely place a lot of these people are just sitting outside shop entrances begging and occasionally drunkenly harassing passers-by. A problem that unsurprisingly gets worse at night and seems to be having a detrimental effect such that Truro often seems a ghost-town aside from the homeless on the streets:

A huge scandal that does not get the coverage that it deserves.
The problem can be solved, during the pandemic the only people living on the streets were the ones who wanted to be there.

Which begs the question - why isn't this problem solved ? Tories shop in the High Streets too. Don't understand the political rationale behind it.

This is why i get annoyed at Christmas, We have charities opening buildings for the homeless over the Christmas period because of that particular time of year but come Jan 2nd, Those buildings are closed and winter is not even half way over and the homeless are "Kicked Out" onto the streets again. Living near Southampton and the rare times i go in, Over the last few years you see more and more people living on the streets. Please don't forget, Apparently its a "Lifestyle Choice" to be homeless.
