Some good programmes, BBC's Saturday night is real entertaiment, A lot better than nowadays fill, Tiswas on Saturday morning, Classic, Brilliant fun, Also The Open University, The students of the OU nowadays don't realise how lucky they are, Back then and without VCR's having to get up and watch certain programmes for their degrees, Hard to believe now.

Monster Mansion : HMP Frankland on 5 (Catch up)

Former inmates & a former Prison Officer talk about the Cat A prison in County Durham.
The scumbags Levi Belfield & Ian Huntley are among the inmates. Belfield has the dubious distinction of being the only prisoner in the whole prison system to have two whole life terms.

There is a similar programme about HMP Wakefield.

16th November 1978.

The Bionic Woman on most ITV regions is nearing the end of its 3rd & final season(58 episodes)
It was a spin off from a 2 part Six Million Dollar Man episode in 1975.
Jamie Summers(Lyndsey Wagner) has similar injuries to boyfriend Steve Austin(Lee Majors) & has the same bionics put on her body...Wonderful stuff for the era...Up there with Wonder Woman..😁😎

Tucked away in the movies ...
Hoppity Goes To Town

A full length cartoon from the Fleischer studios (creators of Popeye, Betty Boop etc).
Hoppity the Grasshopper takes on the gangsters and property developers in New York. o_O

I saw this when I was a kid and it made quite an impression on me then.
Fleischer cartoons in general could be much grittier and more raw than the Disney fare of the era.

I'm delighted to see it's available on Youtube as I haven't seen it since then.
I shall watch it over the weekend.
I wonder how it stands up now.

The first episode of Goodnight Sweetheart. The sitcom ran for 6 series(59 episodes)
The lady’s vying for Gary Sparrows affections,Phoebe & Yvonne were replaced during the run by Emma Amos & Elizabeth Carling. Very unusual in a sitcom.

19th November 1981.

Tenko on BBC1. The first series. A drama about a interment camp for women after the Japanese invasion of Malaya, Singapore & the Dutch East Indies. Covering 1941-45. A time pretty much forgotten about except for the people involved.
A collaboration between the BBC & ABC(Australia)
3 series(3 x 10 episodes) plus a feature length episode at the end of the run.
There had been many films & dramas about POW camps but this was the first about a interment camp featuring primarily women. The film Empire of the Sun(1987) loosely followed the idea.
