Indeed. I was lucky enough to be at the recording of the Exeter programmes, inside knowledge. I got Magnus's autograph.2nd June 1988.
Mastermind has run for 48 series(980 episodes-regular)since September 1972. A surprising hit with viewers after it was moved for a graveyard slot soon after its start.
Magnus Magnusson presented the show until 1997.It was always on BBC1 during his years.
For many years the show was recorded at various universities around the country, I remember ECFC69 who worked for the Estates Office at Exeter Uni telling me that they were recording the next day, that he had sat in the famous chair when BBC production were setting up..Pip your specialist subject is music of the 1970’s

Watched the first 3 episodes, first one I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out but from the introduction of Jonny Rotten it’s been great. The actor playing Rotten is superb, he’s got his mannerisms and voice down to a tee.I’m finishing Stranger things first, then defo watching Pistol, I’m really looking forward to it
I binged the lot yesterday / today. It was pretty good I’d say, but only a 6/10. I loved the actor playing Jonny Rotten, he was excellent and there were some touching scenes involving Sid and Nancy. I don’t like the fact that John Lydon hasn’t sanctioned it though, that’s a real shame. I hope that was down to a miscommunication but it doesn’t appear like it was.Watched the first 3 episodes, first one I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out but from the introduction of Jonny Rotten it’s been great. Lydon appears touchy about history being misrepresented in anything to do with the Sex Pistols and wants some editorial control it would seem.I binged the lot yesterday / today.
