A tribute Weekend on Gold this Saturday & Sunday to John Challis.
We have all seen the wonderful episodes of Fools & The Green Green Grass a few times, but I’m setting the record button for Saturday(25th Sept) at 6pm for one of my favourite episodes the 1989 Christmas Special,’Jolly Boys Outing’ That one with the 1988 Christmas Special ‘Dates’ are still incredibly funny despite the passage of time.

Never a good look to storm out of interviews.
You have an audience.
Stay calm.
Argue your point.
Yes, I agree. But it's a fine line isn't it. The interviewers can wind one up no end, can't they.

I didn't see the Madeley interview, but someone like say Piers Morgan always goes for the throat wanting you to bite.

Even in the softly softly days, Parkinson would sometimes keep chipping away when it wasn't needed (Helen Mirren & Meg Ryan). And who can forget Robin Day/John Nott? I think I would've done much the same as Sir John to be honest; there's only so much belittling one can take.

Last night the tribute to the late Prince Philip on BBC1, Just the family and a couple of people that worked for him, Thought it hit the right note and leaving to the family for their thoughts was very personal. The programme started out as a celebration of his 100th birthday but sadly he didn't quite make it. Probably the BBC at their best for this sort of thing.

Threads broadcasted 23rd September 1984.
Has there been a better apocalyptic drama on British TV ?
Scary stuff at the time, with the usual Cold War tensions in Europe.

This was the most scary and depressing programme I'd seen, It was very real and afterwards you couldn't just go to bed you needed to lighten the mood.

For sure.

A hard thing to keep in mind but when you are doing media interviews you have to stay aware of the fact that you are hoping to convince those watching rather than the person asking.

There’s one like that in one of our local car parks , hides behind pillars in the parking lot trying to catch motorists out.

The North Water on iplayer.
A 5 part drama set on a whaling ship out of Hull in 1859.
Colin Farrell plays a murderous psychopath who is the ships harpooner.Stephen Graham is the captain,Jack O’Connell the ships surgeon who left the Indian Army under a cloud.
Watched the first two episodes back to back.Excellent.Binge watching the rest tomorrow.
The rest of the drama lived up to the first two episodes.Slightly similar scenario to Trapped the recent drama about The Franklin Expedition In 1847,when the Whaling ship is caught in pack ice, that’s where the similarity ends.
