World on a Wire , 1973 German science fiction television serial starring Klaus Loiwitsch ( who played the Odessa assassin in the film The Odessa File ). It was made for German television and originally aired in 1973, as a two-part miniseries.Imagine , the world is just a computer simulation being used to test ideas and theories out on its computer subjects. Then one of the characters starts to cotton on that the world isn’t real after all , but what will he do about it and his own situation? Based on the book Simulacron 3 by Daniel F Galouye. Read the book many years ago was glad to come across this series on YouTube. Excellent. With English subtitles.

He always reminds me of the Pot Black Snooker programme, which most of the country watched on Black & White TVs in the early 1970s.
A chap who was instantly recognisable before Snooker players were that well known.

I remember his nickname being "The Count". That's with regard to Dracula before you start 😉.
