Tonight at 10pm on TPTV is the really excellent classic Billy Liar (1963) starring Tom Courtenay, Wilfred Pickles, Julie Christie, Leonard Rossiter. Story of a bored clerk in a Northern town with a very large imagination, So worth a look or recording

A great film.Reminds me of a great school trip.
After reading the book Billy Liar in a English class at school we went to The Drury Lane Theatre to see the stage version of Billy Liar.
Michael Crawford & Elaine Page in the starring roles.
If Carlesburg did school trips 😁
What a great day out in ‘the smoke’ in May 1975 About 30 of us got the train from Dawlish at 9am & got the overnight train back.

Don't know if anyone's noticed this, but Channel 78 on Freeview specialises in 70s music.

The Directors on Sky Arts. Looking at film directors, tonight is Anthony Mann who directed Winchester 73.

Brilliant days in London. They were stopped the next year 1976 because of a IRA bombing campaign & never reinstated.
Risk assessments would stop school kids roaming around the capital on their own whilst in the schools care these days.

We all had to meet up at Leicester Sq at 6pm..In those days it was a dodgy area with ‘herberts’ trying to sell drugs..Some youth with a huge swastika tattoo on his arm came up to me & my friends & asked if we wanted some ‘trips’ we thought he meant some sort of coach trip & said we were getting the train home 🤣🤣🤣

You obviously don't share Albert R Broccoli's assessment of the said fine lady, when rejecting her for the role of Honey Rider in Doctor No !
