The Persuaders 2nd episode of 24 in just the one series.

A ITC Production, a very expensive one it was too securing the lead actors of Roger Moore & Tony Curtis. A lot of the scenes were filmed in the south of France & Italy as well as London.

Shown in the US on ABC around the same time. This was the reason why Tony Curtis was chosen, to sell it to a US Network & audience.

Granada & Anglia TV networks did not show it on Friday prime time, showing the drama/light comedy a day before, which must have annoyed Lew Grade(who commissioned the series) & the advertising executives.

Terry Nation wrote 7 of the episodes , 8 writers in all were used.
The best part of the programme looking back is the wonderful theme tune written by John Barry.
Agree with you on that theme tune. Superb.

I have a different take on this.
The Persuaders.
Interplay between Roger Moore & Tony Curtis - quite amusing.
Theme tune - great.
Series and scripts - inconsequential guff supplanting a late sixties era of some quite substantial creative and dramatic 60s homegrown TV.

Nostalgia gives it more of a rosy glow than it deserves in my opinion.

Monster : The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (Netflix)

A 10 episode drama about the life of the Milwaukee cannibal serial killer, who had 17 victims between 1979 & 91.
Disturbing & interesting in equal measure.

27th September 1971.

Steptoe & Son on late for a Sit-Com.
8 seasons(57 episodes) which were originally broadcast 1962-65 & 1970-74. A long run given the hiatus in the middle of the 1960s plus the two actors did not particularly like each other by all accounts.
Remarkably all episodes survived the mass wiping of the BBC archive in the late 60s to mid 70s.

On Westward TV Sports Desk at 6.20pm which in this year would have been presented by Gary Newbon, who took over from Don Arnold the year before. Newbon would leave at the end of the year to work at ATV. Chris Fear replaced him, presenting the sports section for the next decade on Westward TV.
A few memories of Chris going up the ladder to the gantry at SJP, especially the time when a couple of herberts removed the ladder 😁
He was unfairly abused for being perceived to favour Argyle in his round up. At Home Park he was abused because it was thought he favoured the Grecians 😁

At least it gave him the chance to live up to his name!

I liked his reports on Sports Desk, if he had seen a pi55 poor performance from the league sides in the region he would say so & not mince his words.
He would have definitely annoyed Tisdale.

One of my favourites was on a very poor Argyle side in 77/78 who narrowly avoided a 2nd consecutive relegation, he said on the Monday evening Sports Desk “Perhaps Argyle should try playing forwards rather than sideways” 🤣

The Troubleshooters (BBC1 9.20)
Starred Ray Barrett and lasted 47 series but the taped episodes mostly wiped since by the BBC.
I have vague memories of it.
Set in the impossibly glamorous world of big oil.

A look at one of the few remaining episodes still on Youtube reveals an upbeat opening - jet fighter, boat launches, motor racing, hovercraft, blonde in a sports car ... over a pounding orchestral theme (written by Dusty Springfield's brother Tom).
Unfortunately this then gives way to 40 minutes of stilted office based chat between blokes in suits about salaries, contracts and the such.

Will there ever be a sequel called The Windfarmers?

Oops.
For 7 series is what I meant.

It's the interchangeability of numbers and words I want to free for it can work sometimes.
