Going back quite a way, Alan Weeks was another all-rounder, as I recall.

Sunday 1st May 1983.

That’s Life was a regular show on the BBC for 21 years(1973-94) A good mix of Satire,Light Entertainment & consumer investigation.
The latter being ground breaking when the show was first aired.’heap of the week’ mentioning unreliable appliances.
Cyril Fletcher with “Odd Odes” sat in a armchair reading out amusing adverts in newspapers & Richard Stilgoe composing and singing a amusing song to life issues of the day were in the 1970s format of the programme.
ChildLine was initially set up through That’s Life.F3388BB7-DE40-4516-85BF-58E6880DA444.jpeg

Adaption of Charles Dickens David Copperfield on BBC1.The beeb were very good at those types of production back then. Now a Independent production company would be commissioned to undertake such a project.
The Onedin Line later in the evening.Watched that with my parents religiously.
Went to Exeter Quay to watch filming a few times(on a Sunday)
From 1977 onwards the dockside filming took place at Dartmouth because the “Charlotte Rose” mast was too tall for the new M5 viaduct where it crossed the canal.
Love the ads for Colour TVs..26” was the top size.
I wonder why Black & White TVs had a different screen size ? They were 15”,20” or 23” iirc.

Sons & Daughters in the Afternoon.A Aussie soap that was popular with stay at home mums before Neighbours,Jason & Kylie we’re in the nations psyche.
Not that I ever watched it because I was working, but caught bits of it in customers houses enough times.
Home to Roost with John Thaw & Reece Dinsdale who had made a name for himself in the BBC TV film Threads a couple of years before.
The ITV regions were showing various differing offerings as was the norm then.
IBA policing the watershed. Now Ofcom do the same job.
