This looks so much better than we feared a month or so ago. We now have a decent squad. I'd have liked an experienced specialist left back, but you can't have everything.
Well, we have 5 players - Hartridge, Grounds, Daniel, Rowe, Caprice - in the squad who can play there and that doesn't include Sparkes who played there last season. While it's true that none of them exactly match your description if we do switch to 4 at the back hopefully one or two of them can do a decent job there.

Daniel has played 133 games at LB, mainly in L1, and Grounds, 256, mainly in the Championship and L1!

How is that not experienced?!

I'm aware of that, and its good to have several experienced players who are adaptable. I guess I'm a dinosaur who sees left back as a career position like Woody, who I saw still doing the job at Tivvy a couple of weeks ago. Its strange but right backs are different, I dunno why?

Neither is a *specialist* LB, however - as I read their careers Grounds is a CB who doesn't mind playing LB and Daniel mainly a midfielder or WB, and I'm sure either will do the job creditably when selected. I was not complaining, a L2 team can't have players in every role and MT clearly intends to play 3 and WBs. We will see if and when MT ever plays a 4 rather than 3 at the back.

Agreed, and we do actually have as many left sided as right sided defenders. See above. It will be interesting to see who he picks in that case.

There was understandable consternation at how many players left at the end of last season but it's surprising how few of them we now seem to miss. Losing Randall was a big blow but it feels like the club were prepared for it and we still have plenty of decent attacking options. Of the others, Page and Taylor would be decent members of the squad but not sure either would make too big a difference to the team.

A tale of Rands
I see that Randall was non playing sub on Saturday having played in five games this season, but Williams wasn't in the squad for Saturday having played the first four games, is he injured? Neither have scored so far this season

Ah well. A month in and, despite concerns of an "underwhelming" transfer summer (and I'll put paws up as a doubter myself) it's hopefully becoming apparent that there has been some good business done.

They may not have been immediately apparent as marquees but they certainly seem to be steadily growing into, at very least, a set of sturdy and well assembled frame tents.

Who knows (and I'm not one to tempt fate) but, by next May they might even have turned into a field of "Big Tops"?

Not too many disposable tents.
