A wonderful image that was bizarrely on the ECFC Museum page.
Station Yard,Queen St Station(Central) around 1920.
complete with a LSWR Motor Coach (any ideas CB where it would be going to ?)

The photo shows the access to the station from the path that connects Queen St to New North Rd, if you walk along there, one can still see the access gate in the wrought iron fencing even though it’s not been used since 1933 when the station was rebuilt following a large fire the previous year.

Further investigations have yielded the following. On the 1st June 1903, the first motor bus service ever worked by the LSWR ran between Queen Street and Chagford, departing Chagford at 9.15am and returning from Queen St at 2.40pm after the arrival of an express from Waterloo. In 1908, Thorneycroft buses as per your photo were used, although later still Karriers. After WW1 pirate buses siphoned off traffic to such an extent that the railway bus service ran at a loss and so was withdrawn on 20th Sept 1924.

The Railway Touring Company's "Atlantic Coast Express" comes to Exeter this coming Saturday. Travelling from Waterloo, via Salisbury and Axminster it is due to arrive at Exeter St David's at 13.30, and departs for the return journey at 16.40 via Taunton and .Westbury. Scheduled to be hauled by 35028 Clan Line, so a rare chance to see a Bullied Pacific steaming through St James Park Halt once again !

Anyone with a decent camera and lens able to get a picture of 35028 with SJP in the background? Though the angle is a bit difficult.

35028 going well through Stoke Canon later on. Two minutes afterwards, the Red Arrows flew over!
