More cultural appropriation going on at the weekend, with a Huddersfield-Paignton train called the Devon Belle, hauled by a class 50 diesel.

Should be on the Southern line with a Merchant Navy at the head of it, as in 1947-54. An unrebuilt one would be nice, though alas not possible !
Not yet but the group owning 35011 intend to restore it to original form. Might take a good few years yet though !

Or the "hoover" acknowledging it's WR heritage by carrying in a "Torbay Express" headboard? (Although I know full well that a Class 50 has done the Paignton bash in recent years under that title)

Twill be nice though to hear that distinctive "thump thump" of the exhaust passing chez 2k yet again.

50008 Thunderer is one of the guest locos at the West Somerset Railway Diesel gala on the 8th-10th June along with a mighty Deltic 55009. Could be three "Cromptons", two Hymeks and two "Teddy Bears" amongst the other locos in action.

Never done this before
Train travel is not about getting there
Just as well, given just how dreadfully our privatised railway system works these days

Interesting to see that the costs of restoration to either a rebuilt or unrebuilt state wouldn't be that different.
