There will be a lot of surplus players in the summer as clubs look to trim their squads.

Wages deferral is a no brainer really. Players at lower levels have to realize that if a lot of lower league clubs go bust, the less chance they will have of securing a move somewhere else in the future. There will be less clubs around for them to move to.

So what’s the difference now to the summer break when there are no games ?

Id imagine The length of time with no games and uncertainty when we will play again.
Think the biggest worry is if games return behind closed doors.

I read that Spurs are back training.

The summer break is a regular thing and can be planned for as part of the yearly budget.
What's happening now couldn't be.
So Summer break has come a little earlier.

I remember reading that we are the richest club in the country so we should be ok.

Indeed, but we've missed 20% of home matches, hence we're 20% down on match day income. Match day income is the Clubs biggest revenue stream. This stuff isn't difficult.
