Cigarette Coupons.

The advert is from May 1971..18p is the equivalent to £2.71 today.
The cheapest fags today are around £10 a pack.

Olds , I've got a packet of those still sealed and found them when sorting out the garage on sunday think they were a packet my mum gave me when I went off to basic training in Litchfield !

And easy to club together with the spare bus change from the dodgy conductor to buy a packet at the shops behind Vincent Thompson.
IIRC the bus fare was 10p to the end of Rifford Rd but the clippy would only charge us 2p and probably chucked that in his pocket.

We had a shop in Bradworthy that would sell cigs to us when we were at the youth club on Thursday evenings, The shop was closed but you could knock on the side door. All you use to say was "They're for my mum or dad" Of course we thought we were getting away with it but they knew and didn't really care. Happy days!

Back in the day the shop just up the road from Exmouth School used to sell single Park Drive cigs (at an exorbitant price) to pupils despite for our breaktime nicotine fix.
For an extra 1p they would even throw in four or five Swan Vestas rolled up in a strip of sandpaper.
I believe it was what, nowadays, is called entrepreneurialism!

There was a cigarette vending machine outside McGhays for many years.
