As a little lad, I liked the greengrocer's shop, with its grapes packed in barrels of sawdust. I think the shopkeeper was called Warre.

On the very enjoyable subject of schoolboy fun how about crossing your fingers so the other kids couldn't "get" you. We called it "fainies" or "fainites" - well that's how it was pronounced.

I think we used to say "Bars". I could be wrong, mind.

I had a burglary once. They pinched the little aerial and left the TV.

I had a burglary once. They pinched the little aerial and left the TV.
They probably broke the aerial off by accident and then it would have been difficult to pick anything up, TV wise.

These awful number plates for our armed forces abroad they had for their own personal vehicles back in the day in places like Germany that made them easy targets for Terrorists, Mainly from Northern Ireland.
