Amazon and Apple returning, if true, is the first bit of actual good news, so thanks for thatOutgoings won't be way up once redundancy payments are out of the way. He's slashed staffing by 50% without any noticeable degradation to performance. In less than six months' time, operating costs will be way down. And as for profitability, I see that Apple and Amazon have come run back wrt advertising.
As for Tesla stock, the whole tech sector is being hammered. For instance, Amazon stock has been affected just as badly and Meta stock is down by much further over the space of 1 year.
How long then do you think it'll be until Twitter will be gone?
The decrease in payroll doesn't cover the increase in debt repayment. As for "no noticeable degradation in performance", we've already covered that's not true and I can attest to that from personal experience.
The most noticeable downgrade has been the algorithm. I've very carefully cultivated my twitter experience over several years, going as far as having multiple accounts for different interests, so as not to dilute the algorithm of the account I use to get business. In the last few weeks that's all gone to pot, and on my main account I'm no longer seeing what I want to see, but instead an increase in right wing politics, spam, pornography and bots. That makes life much harder for me, and I've taken the decision to scale back my time in twitter, as the return is not worth it any more.
As for how long it will last, there are a number of ways things could play out, and it all depends on how long Musk's interest lasts. I think the most likely course is that he will step back, hire another CEO, and they will gradually turn everything back to the way it was before. Alternatively he turns it into a right wing echo chamber, but given there are already several of those without twitter's level of debt I don't think that's sustainable. Other options are he sells it off on the cheap, or he gets bored and winds the whole thing up.
Or he dies horribly when he installs one of those brainchips he wants to launch.
