How bad is the pitch? Doesit cut up easily? Is it very bumpy?
It’s fairly good still but it was noticeable against Accy that bare patches were starting to show especially in the old problem areas about 10 meters in along the Cowshed touch line....got feeling that part of the pitch will cut up a bit and become very sticky as the winter goes on....personally I don’t think the grass is anywhere near thick enough all over the pitch so it will probably become bumpy in any prolonged dry spell.

Thanks for the description. I watched 3 home games last January and it seemed Ok, but as people have mentioned, it didn't get too much love and affection pre-season this year due to circumstances beyond control.

It got the same 'love and affection' that Clive and his team always give the pitch close season, just that it was not ripped up and relaid this year as in the past. But the verti draining and top dressing were all done as normal.

My post was not in any way a criticism of the groundstaff: clearly evidenced by my adding "due to circumstances beyond control", as mentioned by previous posters.

You've got to put the "circumstances beyond control" stuff at the commencement of a post if you dont want to be taken to task Mike. And for what its worth, Tisdale never put forward any reason why he felt the pitch was bad during his last post match interview, just that it was bad and hard for the players to play good football on. He never offered any reasons for the state of the pitch so early in the season, which I thought was somewhat below the belt as far as Citys ground staff are concerned.

If the pitch is purportedly so bad, how do you explain our (mostly) youngsters tonking those of Brighton last night with such excellent flowing football?

Shouldn't that question be directed at Tisdale, since he was the person who raised the topic? Please follow the discussion from its onset.

Typical Tisdale, getting his excuses in nice and early.

Our pitch is fine.

Anything other than the play offs this season should be viewed as a failure.
