For the superstitous they jinxed the game our way right at the start of the journey.
"Starting of the ride to Bolton with some bangers."
"Can't beat a bit of Coldplay"
Ironic when you consider where the video for "Fix You" was filmed from as well.

Thanks Rosencrantz, whatever happens to our season now , seeing that lot celebrating their ‘promotion‘ before the match was over and having their balloon popped seconds from the end by us will stick with me.Talk about counting your chickens and the fat lady singing eh! 😂😂😂

Or even better being at the old Manor ground 80's not sure when (1984 ish?) when John Sims popped up with a last minute equalizer with all the Oxford fans on the edge of the pitch about to celebrate their promotion!! Anyone else there that day?

On the other hand it can be sweet when it comes off. Who can forget us handing their allocation of replay tickets over to Man Utd before our 3rd Round FA Cup tie at Old Trafford !

There were however tens of thousands of replay tickets pulped as not needed in those days. Replays were generally only three or four days after the first game and there was no other option.

Plod had already stopped that and replays put back an extra week. We did of course print tickets for a potential 4th Round home tie versus Middlesborough, the majority of which were presumably pulped, although a few were kept as souvenirs.

The way I remembered the story* was that we handed over the replay tickets immediately after the game (having had them printed before the game and taken them to the game!). That would have been even better - accompanied by the smirk that says 'we thought we might get a draw here'

* I have no inside info and was not involved, just half remember a story
