The continuing saga of the scoreboard that seldom works

It appears that the Club are trialling an electronic scoreboard for the Mansfield game on 17th December. It's a one-off, and it is being done at no coat to the Club, though the company concerned is trying to sell advertising time/space to various sponsors allegedly at £395 a go (presumably + VAT). Whilst I applaud this attempt to move into the late twentieth century it seems it is being done at some discomfort to Mansfield fans who wish to stand in our glorious away end since they are being forced to sit in the grandstand areas at full price for their tickets. It appears that the electronic board is primarily intended to be viewed by those on the Big Bank, though no doubt those of us who shuffle into the Whatsitcalledthisweek stand may also be able to see it, as well as some in the OG. It'll be interesting to see if the E&E are partakers of this visual feast of entertainment.

"No coat to the club" I presume we can assume that the sponsors will be fleeced?

Why do we need an electronic scoreboard? Surely we merely require a permanent sign which reads... Exeter City 0. A supporter from the away team can hold up another number board where appropriate. No need for electrics

Glad to see that the club is focusing on the things that really matter. Can't see why the Stags fans should be forced under cover, though.
Why not? We are often forced to do the same when we go to others. Most don'thave a standing option and away fans are always moaning about that end anyway.
Good move.

Where has this been reported?
Of course it hasn't been reported anywhere "official", but that's one of the issues with the Club (and the Trust) at the moment that they don't give out any information at all about things that are happening that might be of interest to fans (especially to those who have bought season tickets). If you disbelieve that this is taking place at the Mansfield game contact the Club and ask them to deny it. The whole situation with information at the moment is a complete and utter shambles, both from the Club and the Trust. It isn't helped by having a Chief Executive who either says too little or too much and who is ill advised by whoever is trying to deal with his shambolic dealings with the press. See also the recent thread about the E&E.

Just out of interest David is it a "state of the art" full colour 625 lines jobbie or an old, knock off, 425 lines Black and White model they picked up cheap at a car boot sale?
